New Year’s Eve is getting close. And instead of celebrating it with a glass of champagne, let’s toast the end of this year and beginning of 2018 with a glass of red sangria:) This is our favorite version of red wine sangria which is a perfect punch for family and friedns gathering. Wine and fruit – perfect combination. And to be sure that during the winemaking process
, the liquid has not been filtered with the use of animal-derived products, check if the label includes „V” logo (Viva) or mentions that the wine is „vegan friendly”.
Sangria – sweet memory of sunny Portugal and Spain, beutiful beaches and amazing nights with music, wine and padron peppers. In Poland you can buy bottled ready made sangria but we don’t even want to try it. Making homemade sangria is so easy and is much better than sangria we recently tried in some local restaurants (it almost had no fresh fruit in it and some fruit juice was the main ingredient – awful in taste!).
1 bottle medium dry red wine
4 tbsp white rum
1.5 cup sparkling water
*brown sugar/ erythritol to taste (optional)
Cut oranges and apples into cubes (do not peel the fruit). Transfer fruit into a large pitcher, cover with wine. Add sparkling water and rum (remember that water should be only 1/3 of the entire punch). If you prefer your punch sweet, you can add sugar/ erythritol to taste. We prefer it without sugar. After some time (preferably hours) your punch will be sweet enough thanks to fruit that you add. Mix and leave to cool for at least 2 hours. Add ice cubes when serving. Enjoy!
*When your punch is over, do not throw out the fruit – it’s the best part:)
*You can also add other fruit you like such as strawberries. This recipe is the basic and favorite version of sangria. You can modify it as you wish.
